Relational Well-being Training for Teachers

At Ag Eisteacht, located in Cork, Ireland we offer training to help foster well-being in the school community.

We have two different programmes for teachers:

ABLE4Teachers – 2 HOUR INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP

The two hour workshop is designed to introduce participants to the knowledge base and skills required to adopt a relational approach in the school community. The workshop will include an overview of the four stage, evidence informed, brief intervention model called ABLE.

The model is designed to enable teachers to recognise and use opportunities to engage with colleagues and parents especially at times of change, challenge and / or upheaval. Ag Eisteacht trainers are available to deliver this workshop in schools across Ireland & we are delighted to accept queries from principals & teachers re same.

ABLE4Teachers – SUMMER COURSE FOR TEACHERS

Ag Eisteacht also offer a Department of Education and Skills approved summer course for teachers, ABLE4Teachers. ABLE is evidence based, custom designed training to assist teachers in actively fostering relational well-being in the school community. Courses for the 2017/2018 school term have now ended. We will be taking enquiries for 2018/2019 in the coming months.

We are proud to say that in our post-course questionnaire in 2017 over 95% of participants said they would recommend the course to a colleague. Other comments included:

“Most beneficial course I have done both personally and professionally. Thank you so much.”

“The facilitators set this up excellently and along with the visual aids and interesting tasks, a great learning experience”

“I thought the course was really well organised and informative. I felt at ease and everybody got the chance to speak, was listened to. I thought the group gelled well. I enjoyed the formal and informative chats. The course has made me much more aware as to how I can improve and gave me valuable skills.”

Inspectors Report

In 2017 there was an inspector from the Department of Education and Skills present at one of our training courses. The overall feedback from the report was extremely positive and affirming. Some of the inspectors feedback included:

“The course reflects the key principles of the Department of Education and Skills’ guidelines on Well-being in Primary Schools, demonstrating how the fostering of health relationships with peers, teachers and school staff is essential to pupils’ positive experience of school and their cognitive and emotional development.”

The report then goes on to say how “participants are exposed to a variety of learning experiences including experiential workshops, multi-media presentations, group work and activity based learning.”

As an organisation, we put a lot of work into developing a course that will support teachers, so it was very encouraging when the inspector stated that “the range and quality of the learning tasks are very good with very high levels of interaction, discussion and debate.”
