September 10, 2020
Time, attention and
respect stand at the heart of our work. These values are reflected in our training
programmes, our research projects, collaborations and advocacy work. They form
the foundation of every relationship in practice, whether in a school, a
community or a healthcare environment.
As school leaders navigate
the transition back to school, we invite you to consider the following tips based
on these important values to help you to support staff as they return to work.
Time: Give staff time to review this evolving situation on a regular and
Attention: Leaders who listen and are attuned and attentive can be relied on for consistent available support.
Respect: Consider staff’s physical comfort. Is there a
space that is comfortable, safe and
restorative in the school?
Reflect: Is there a willingness and capacity to reflect on this transition back to school and work together to look at rebuilding relationships, rather than simply reacting to difficulties as they arise?
